The house was originally part of a subdivided project we lovingly called Casas Dos Brazos. The house on the right is called Casa Galeana named after Hermenegildo Galeana and the house on the left (this one!) is called Casa Mariano after Mariano Matamoros. Both of these guys were the Right and Left "arms" of José María Morelos y Pavón who was in military command of Mexico's Independence movement in 1811-1815, and who proclaimed he lost his "Dos Brazos" when each of his men were killed, hence the symbolic names of the two homes. We love learning about the history of where we reside so you’ll often find us sharing fun facts about Mazatlan and in general, Mexico’s, history.
